Week 5

Leaning in an interactive way is very helpful. Some icons have been on my computer for years, but I don't know how to use them. Thank you for Lynn, now I know about "feed", which has been sitting there at the conner of my pages.

I have just downloaded SmartDraw, a very powerful graphical design software. I can design my webpage there and design my newsletter there. I am using the trial edition at this moment. If it is useful, I would not minding spending some dollars on buying it.

After these five weeks, I have found that I am quicker than before to pick up computer stuff.

And it is very nice to see Margret, my last term tutor again. I appreciate her willingness to improve her teaching skill. She has been approved to be a good teacher even without the podcasting.

Week 4

I have just narrowed down my objective to create my own website, to create newsletters on Groupmail, and to know more about the other feactures such as podcasting.

During the class, we have discussed about setting up the website. Anil told me how to create a simple website under Yahoo! . I actually have got one before under Yahoo!, but I don't like the attached ads on my website. Sabrina found some information on 2createawebsite.com about free website which showed that free website actually was not good in the long run, unstable etc.

Week 3

This week I have been quite struggled with the website set-up softwares. I have got a disc from Lynn that I should be able to download Silverstripe. However, I failed to do that even after I have download Wampserver2.0c, and Winzip112, AdbeRdr90. I really don't know the reason. I hope I could solve it out tomorrow. Sorry for holding the disc a whole week but achieve nothing.

Week 2

In last week's class, we used the set-up account on Myprofolio to communicate with each other, to add on vedios, and to network with members in the group to share our vedios and photoes. Jane, who was sitting next to me, told me about Firefox and Skype. I would download and try these two softwares later.

I mainly have worked on Myspace and Facebook this week. Many of my friends have joined Facebook, they sent me invitation to be part in as well. I was a bit lazy in the past. Now I set up my Facebook account and started sorting the photoes on Myspace out. On Myspace, it was very fast and easy for me to upload my photoes and it showed that I could put as many photoes there as I could. On Facebook, I could insert my photoes there and I could see my friend's photoes and friends' friends photoes. It is very good for knowing new friends and networking.

Second class

Today is the second class of Computer literacy workshop. My objective is to learn how to reach as many people as possible in a quick and efficient way. During the class, Sabrina helped me to edit my blog on blogger.com and set up an account on wikispaces. I found out WIKI actually is "a coolection of web pages designed to enable anyone who accesses it to contribute or modify content, using a simplified markup language (wikipedia.org)."

Later on this week, I started working on GroupMail. Groupmail, such like Albanygroup, is very good to make email work for you. I downloaded the free edition from group-mail.com and set up my account. Then I went for my first trial to send an email to Lynn and Sabrina. I would ask them tomorrow to see if I have done a good job.
